knew from their Hong Kong days, went back to the Lord at 96.

Sister Margaret Shepherd, MM, who served for many years in Hong Kong, went back to the Lord on December 6, 2015 at Maryknoll Sisters’ Centre, Ossining, NY.

Sister Margaret entered Maryknoll Sisters at their novitiate in Valley Park, MO, on October 30, 1947 from St. Agnes Parish, San Francisco, CA, receiving the religious name, Sister Rose Martin.  She had her First Profession of Vows on May 8, 1950 in Valley Park, then worked at Motherhouse from 1950 to 1952 at Bethany Convent, and later at  the residence for elderly and infirm Maryknoll Sisters in Ossining from 1952 to 1957.

Sister received with thrill her first appointment to Hong Kong, which she had long desired, teaching at Maryknoll Convent School in Kowloon Tong from 1957 to 1968.  She then returned to the United States where she completed her college education with a B.S. in Education from Mary Rogers College, Maryknoll, NY in 1970.

Sister Margaret returned to Hong Kong and taught Religious Education, English Language and Literature to secondary school students at Maryknoll Sisters School for some years, and went back again to teach at Maryknoll Convent School from 1981 to 1984, and from 1989 until 1993.

Apart from her continual missionary works with various nationalities of different walks of life, Sister also shared the Gospel and Christian values with maximum security prisoners whilst in Hong Kong.

A vespers service was held for Sister Margaret on December 9, 2015 in the Chapel of the Annunciation at the Maryknoll Sisters Centre at NY.  A Mass of Christian burial followed on December 10, 2015, also at the Centre.
